Crosdesk vs Jira, Asana, ClickUp and LinearShared projects.
Clear accountability.

Most teams can find a tool to track tasks. Choose Crosdesk when several departments need to deliver one plan — with clear access, computed dates and a record of what was promised.

01 / The market

Start with the job you need done.

Established tools have real strengths. This is our assessment of where each fits, rather than a claim that every product should work like Crosdesk.

02 / Illustrative case study

One launch. Three departments. One shared plan.

Imagine a 100-person organisation launching a transport hub. Engineering, Operations and Compliance share dependencies, but each needs control over its own work.

A fictional buying scenario based on Crosdesk’s workflow, not a customer testimonial or a measured outcome.

01

Make the handoffs visible

Lay out the project on a dependency canvas. Each task belongs to a department; the project brings their work together.

02

Verify the delivery plan

Estimate in working days. Verification checks for missing estimates, disconnected cards and cycles, then computes dates around working days and holidays.

03

Keep the promise visible

Preserve the verified baseline. Keep mid-sprint requests beside the commitment, and review delivery through department scorecards and reports.

The buying question

Do you mainly need flexible task tracking, or do you need departments to share a verifiable delivery commitment on infrastructure you operate? The second is where Crosdesk is designed to fit.

03 / Our strengths

Built around how departments deliver.

Visibility follows the department

Department membership scopes tasks and projects; group capabilities grant planning rights. Workspace admins see all departmental work. Meetings remain private, while documents and recordings are workspace-wide to read.

A schedule you can verify

Dependencies, estimates and your working calendar produce the dates. A verified baseline gives you something concrete to compare with reality.

The same task, through delivery

Canvas, sprint, feature and release reference the same task. Step reviews, QA issues and release decisions stay connected to the work.

Reports that preserve commitments

Sprint snapshots keep the original commitment. Ad hoc work stays distinct. Thirteen reports and a scorecard assess delivery without ranking people by effort.

Control over your installation

Run one Docker image with PostgreSQL on your servers or cloud account. Configure identity providers, storage and workspaces from the operator console.

Evidence stays with the work

Versioned documents, recordings with console and network logs, linked pull requests, and scoped AI agents help people investigate and act in context.

Check the fit before you move

Crosdesk’s canvas is desktop-only. It does not offer real-time canvas co-editing, hours-based time tracking or a wiki page tree. Self-hosting needs an operator responsible for backups, upgrades and availability.

04 / Pricing

Price the installation.
Bring the departments together.

Put the seat model in perspective

Compare annual software costs

Illustrative list-price arithmetic, not a total-cost or equivalent-features comparison.

Asana StarterAnnual billing · per-seat arithmetic$13,188
ClickUp CoreDisplayed promotional rate · annual billing$10,800
Linear BasicAnnual billing · per-seat arithmetic$12,000
CrosdeskSelf-hosted licence for this many users · hosting and operations extra$2,990

Calculation: people × published annual-billing monthly rate × 12. Uses Asana Starter, ClickUp Core’s displayed promotion and Linear Basic. Seat bundles, promotions, negotiated discounts and billing rules can change the actual invoice. Crosdesk shows the licence for the band that team size falls in, or “Contact sales” above 200 users; add your infrastructure, operations and any services. Self-hosted per-user alternatives for reference: OpenProject on-premises from €5.95 a user a month (25-user minimum), Plane Pro $6, and YouTrack Server. Jira is excluded because a fixed comparable rate could not be verified.
